The main criticism of electric mobility concerns the displacement of pollution from the use phase to the end-of-life phase of lithium-ion batteries.
That’s why, since 2019, the MTB Group’s Research & Development teams have been committed to finding a recycling solution: the Zero Waste Battery (ZWB) line, a pilot pre-treatment line for electric vehicle batteries.
MTB’s R&D approach to this issue is aimed at maximizing the recovery rate of strategic metals and their quality, whatever the battery chemistry, in order to ensure a circular economy.
ince September 2023, the ZWB line has been demonstrating our ability to process used lithium-ion batteries and gigafactory production scrap with an active material recovery rate of over 95% on certain streams, anticipating the 2031 objectives of European battery regulations. It is a strategic response to the environmental and economic challenges of future lithium-ion battery waste.
