HOW TO REDUCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF YOUR PRODUCTS ?

Many innovative products for consumers are emerging every day. Increasingly efficient, constantly technological, and ever more eco-responsible. Is their end of life “green”? Often, the answer is no. For each new product, a new recycling chain must be developed. Given the growing amount of waste in the world, how can we find eco-efficient recycling solutions?

ECODESIGN IS THE KEY

Eco-design is a method for designing goods and services that allows to consider and reduce their environmental impacts. This method enables the implementation of the circular economy strategy of economic actors.

At MTB, we offer eco-design support oriented towards Design for Recycling. The objective is to adapt your products to recycling processes and if necessary develop innovative recycling solutions.

Our knowledge of the industrial recycling processes is combined with a detailed study of the composition of your products to identify an eco-efficient solution for the end-of-life management. This approach is also extended to waste generated during manufacturing.

OUR ecodesign SUPPORT OFFER

1. Optimising the environmental impact of the existing product’s end of life phase: studying the waste/ finding an eco-efficient recycling process based on existing solutions

2. Supporting and advising our partners on the eco-design of a product for its end-of-life phase to facilitate recycling

3. Creating a recycling chain: developing eco-efficient technical solutions to enable the recycling of the materials present.

THE lIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT

MTB’s Eco-Innovation team performs an environmental assessment using life cycle assessment tools. This means calculating the environmental impact of the different stages of the product’s life, from its manufacture to its end of life. This enables the environmental impact of different recycling scenarios to be compared.

The MTB offer’s strength: a study of technical, environmental and economic performance, based on tests carried out under industrial conditions.
